ChatGPT rank checker
This ChatGPT rank checker gives you an estimate, made by an AI model, of where ChatGPT would place your brand when a buyer asks one question about your market. Free and without signing up.
What a ChatGPT rank is
When a buyer asks ChatGPT for the best option in your market, the answer is usually a short list. Some businesses come first, some come fourth, and many are not mentioned at all. Your rank is the place your brand takes in that list.
Position matters because buyers read from the top. A brand named first is the one a buyer is most likely to visit, compare or call. A brand named last gets a glance. A brand left out gets nothing. This ChatGPT rank checker gives you a quick first look at where you would land.
How to use the checker
Enter three things.
- Question. One question a buyer would ask, in their own words. Between 10 and 300 characters.
- Brand. The name buyers would use for your business.
- Competitors. Optional. Up to five names, separated by commas.
You get an ordered list of up to ten brands, with yours highlighted if it is on the list, and a position such as “#2” or “Not named”.
Choosing a good question
The result depends heavily on the question, so spend a minute on it. The best questions are the ones buyers ask while they are still choosing, not after they have decided.
- A category question, such as “what is the best accounting software for freelancers”.
- A comparison question, such as “which is better for a small shop”.
- An alternatives question, such as “what can I use instead of a spreadsheet”.
Try two or three wordings. If your rank changes a lot between them, that tells you how fragile your position is. If you are named in all of them, you are in a stronger place. The GEO prompt generator writes six buyer questions for your market if you want a place to start.
How to read the result
The list shows the brands in the order the estimate expects ChatGPT to name them. Read the names around yours. Those are the businesses a buyer is shown next to you. If the same competitor sits above you in every wording, study what that business publishes: how it describes itself, which questions its pages answer, and where it is mentioned on other sites.
A first place is encouraging but not a promise. A “Not named” is a reason to look closer, not a verdict. Both are rough guides, and neither should be reported as a figure.
What helps a brand rank higher
- Clear pages that say what you do, who it is for and how to start.
- Allowing AI crawlers in your robots.txt so your pages can be read.
- Structured data and a sitemap, so your pages are easy to understand.
- Mentions on other trusted sites, such as reviews, directories and articles.
- Answers to the exact questions buyers ask, in plain language.
The robots.txt AI checker and the AI readiness checker cover the first three of these. The AI visibility checker shows how you look across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini at once.
Why this is an estimate
The answer ChatGPT gives depends on the exact wording of the question, on the day, on the person asking and on what the assistant can look up. A single run of any tool cannot capture that range. That is why this checker is labelled as an estimate, and why we suggest looking at trends rather than one result.
If you want to know how your position changes after you improve your site, weekly tracking repeats your questions on a schedule and shows the movement. Choose “Track this every week” below to start it.

Questions
What does the ChatGPT rank checker show?
It shows an estimate, made by an AI model, of the brands ChatGPT would be likely to name for one buyer question, in the order it would name them, and where your brand sits in that list.
Is this ChatGPT's live answer?
No. The result is an estimate written by an AI model. It is a quick way to get a feel for your position, not a record of what ChatGPT said today.
What does "Not named" mean?
It means the estimate did not expect ChatGPT to include your brand for that question. A different question may give a different result.
Which question should I enter?
Use the words a real buyer would type, such as "what is the best CRM for a small team". Leave your own brand name out of the question, so the result shows whether you are named without being asked about.
Why add competitors?
Naming competitors helps the estimate reflect the businesses a buyer would compare you with. You can add up to five, separated by commas. The field is optional.
How do I see real answers over time?
Choose "Track this every week" for weekly tracking. It shows how assistants answer buyer questions in your market week by week, so you can see whether changes to your site make a difference.
